SARAH PALIN'S ENERGY PROBLEM

Sarah Louise Heath Palin and her running mate, John Sidney McCain III, are slowly trying to pull the rug out from under the feet of the voting American public by replacing true concerns about how our country will move forward with pedantic facts such as middle names. Although both parties are guilty of exploiting these small snippets of pundit fodder (How many cars does John McCain have? etc…) it seems that the Republicans are taking this a little too far, distracting the voting public away from issues which Senator McCain and Governor Palin are ill-equipped to debate or support. While only a few issues are currently taking center stage, it is crucial that light be shed on some less covered but equally important issues.

Without a doubt the economy is at the top of the list of concerns for many voters this election season, but there are still other issues, which given the current financial status of our country, will not be given the attention that they would otherwise deserve. Being a graduate student in chemistry, studying solar energy conversion, energy policy and the future energy plans of each candidate has been my main concern throughout this election season. The proper approach towards reforming and improving the intimate relationship between our energy needs and the environment is paramount to how we will progress as a global society in the coming years.

After the “revelation” that Governor Palin may not be qualified for the second highest office in the country following her embarrassing Katie Couric interviews, we have been left with very little exposure to Governor Palin where critical thinking skills are truly needed, except for maybe...
